MakeMyTrip hires Sanket Atal as CTO

NASDAQ-listed online travel services firm MakeMyTrip has appointed Sanket Atal as its chief technology officer. Till recently, Atal was with CA Technologies as senior vice-president and general manager for the company's India Technology Center. In his new role, he will strengthen the OTA's focus on technology and innovation to drive the next phase of its evolution.

Speaking about the appointment, Deep Kalra, CEO and founder of MakeMyTrip, said, "Atal's broad-based experience and expertise will be an asset. He brings a global management style and a clear understanding of enterprise and consumer business to hold him in good stead in this critical role."

Atal has over two decades of experience in software development and managing large organisations. Earlier, he had worked with companies like Oracle, Sequent Computer and Informix Software. He holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Mathematics from Cornell University, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin Madison and an MBA from the University of Oregon.

Commenting on his new role, Atal said, "Technology is the natural enabler in our business to fuel innovation and achieve excellence in customer experience. I am very excited to have this opportunity to lead this vertical, and the experience I have amassed so far in the software industry will support my quest for innovation."
