OLX.com, an online free local classified site, has launched a common app for iPad and iPhone . The Apple app is free for users and is aimed at quick postings of products for sale by individuals.

The 3-step process to post an ad on Olx via the app involves uploading a photo and a video of the product from the iPad, entering the title and description of the product after selecting the product category and filling in the contact details.
Olx had launched its feature phone site around 2-3 years back and since then has moved forward with specific apps for various platforms including Windows, Android and Nokia Symbian"This is a development further to the existing app for iPhone. We have developed an app which can be accessed on both media iPad and iPhone. We are expecting to generate few thousand downloads in the first 2-3 months itself," said Amarjit Batra, country manager, OLX India.

According to Batra, 10 per cent of the traffic to Olx is coming from the mobile medium and thus it makes sense to strengthen the services on the mobile platform. In the future, the focus will be on non-English speaking people who are new to Internet. Olx will be expanding categories and adding more local language capabilities. Currently, Olx is present in 500 cities across India and supports Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi apart from English. Besides India, Olx has presence in 95 countries including Portugal, Mexico, South America and China.

Other players in the online classifieds space include Just Dial, Sulekha, Quikr and Ask Laila.
