Myntra Ropes In Ganesh Subramanian From Bharti Walmart As Chief Merchandising Officer

Bangalore-based e-commerce firm Myntra has appointed Ganesh Subramanian as its chief merchandising officer from Bharti Walmart, where he was vice president and general merchandising manager (Softlines).

An alumnus of Institute of Supply Management, USA, he has more than two decades of experience in retail and fashion industry, he also worked with Reliance Trends and Tommy Hilfiger, Indus League Clothing and Arvind Brands.

Mukesh Bansal, founder and CEO, Myntra said, "Subramanian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in merchandising and planning and will be playing a key role in taking Myntra's catalog and offering to next level."

A couple of months back Myntra raised $20 million in a series C funding, led by Tiger Global. This took its total funding to around $40 million or more(including angel funding).

Last year, Myntra repositioned itself as a lifestyle portal, following consumer demand for more items. Till then, the company had mostly focused on customisation – offering gifts and merchandise such as T-shirts, mugs, greeting cards, calendars, key chains and diaries, which could be personalised with photographs.

Myntra claims to get 2,00,000 daily visitors to the site. The company has already reached out to 10,000 zip codes across the country and is constantly expanding its network to support the growing demand.

Mukesh Bansal, co-founder and CEO of the company, recently said Myntra is targeting to cross Rs 500 crore(~$100 million) in revenues in FY12-13.
