Samsung India Launches E-store In India

Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd has launched its own online store called 'Samsung eStore' (a very innovative name we must add). The store is still in beta as of now and it is offering mobile phones, Tablets, Laptops, Netbooks and accessories. The delivery and logistics of all the orders placed on the store will be managed by Savex Computers Ltd, a national distributor for Samsung India that has been distributing IT and telecom products for Samsung since 1996. Savex is also responsible for maintaining the web site and the end customer interactions.

According to the site, "The Samsung eStore provides customers a shopping platform to make online purchases and offers customers the widest range of Samsung products at competitive rates." Although when we compared the prices of the products from other e-commerce players like Flipkart, Infibeam and HomeShop18, we found that the prices vary on product to product basis (so it's not like they are offering everything the cheapest).

The company is offering all the regular payment methods like Credit/Debit card, net banking and Cash on Delivery (COD). Although the website also mentions that currently COD is being offered only on select locations and products. You can find a list of the banks and cards accepted by the store here. Also, orders cannot be cancelled once you have paid online and in the case of COD, users can cancel the order at the time of receiving the confirmation call from the store.

Earlier, another player and one of Samsung's biggest competitor in the country, Nokia India had joined hands with Indiatimes Shopping to launch its online store- NokiaShop. Although unlike Samsung's store, Nokia Shop was launched on Indiatimes sub-domain.

But then why would Samsung want to launch an online store in the first place, when almost all its products are already available on all the major e-commerce stores in the country. Probably because the Samsung name adds to the credibility and will also mean that the customers can directly contact the seller for repair and after sales service.
