Venture and growth capital investor Sequoia Capital has invested an undisclosed sum in Knowlarity Communications, a Gurgaon-based two-year-old start-up providing cloud telephony solutions, sources with direct knowledge of the development told techcircle.in.
Mohit Bhatnagar, managing director of Sequoia Capital, has also joined the board of the company, sources add.
When contacted, a spokesperson for Sequoia Capital declined to comment. The spokesperson for Knowlarity did not comment either.
Sequoia Capital invests between $100,000 and $1 million in seed-stage firms, between $1 million and $10 million in early-stage portfolio companies and between $10 million and $100 million in growth-stage companies. Knowlarity could fall either under seed-stage investment in which case the investment could be up to $1 million or in the early-stage investment so the investment would be in the sub $10 million range.
Incorporated in 2009, Knowlarity offers cloud telephony solutions in India. The company is co-founded by Ambarish Gupta and Pallav Pandey – both IIT-Kanpur graduates. Gupta also holds an MBA degree from Carnegie Mellon University, USA.
The company offers a host of products such as Superfax, SuperReceptionist, SuperConference, SuperCaller and Phone All, targeting small and medium enterprises. The firm claims to have more than 8,000 clients including Airtel, BPCL, Colgate, P&G, Pepsi, Unitech, Hotel Radisson, Metro Hospital, Park Plaza Hotel, Era Group, NTPC, General Motors, Adobe, Noida Police, Fortis Healthcare, ITM College, Jeevansathi.com, Noida police and state governments of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, among others.
