LinkedIn Hires Hetal Sonpal As Director, Strategic Sales, For India

Professional networking site, LinkedIn has brought on board, Hetal Sonpal as director, strategic sales, for its India operations.

Based in Delhi, Sonpal's mandate will involve working closely with networking site's marketing solutions and LinkedIn hiring solutions team. He will focus on building and strengthening relationships with key clients and oversee the execution of strategic deals to help accelerate the growth of LinkedIn in India.

Till recently, Sonpal was with Microsoft Corporation as lead, telecom alliances.

Sonpal comes with over 13 years of experience in sales and marketing, bulk of which was with IT major Wipro where he spent more than 11 years and rose to leadership positions including regional sales head for North India.

Hari V Krishnan, country manager, LinkedIn said, "We have built a strong business across India with high quality sales and marketing professionals and Hetal's addition to the leadership team will add value and scale to our operations."

LinkedIn has over 35 employees in three cities - Gurgaon, Bangalore and Mumbai. It now has 12 million members in India, up from 10 million in July.  Globally, the network has 135 million members.

Last month LinkedIn had announced that it is setting up a separate engineering centre in Bengaluru.

It recently launched Talent Pipeline, which helps recruiters streamline leads gathered through LinkedIn for follow-up. It also relaunched its mobile website Touch.Linkedin.com and updated its app for iPhones and Android handsets to engage more mobile users.
