Budget Touchscreen Phones From Beetel & Micromax

While the world is running after high end, power packed touchscreen smartphones, not everyone can afford their price tag. Beetel and Micromax have launched their low priced touchscreen mobile phones keeping in mind that there is a lot of demand of touchscreen phones at the mass end of the market in India.

Beetel GD-470

Beetel, a Bharti Enterprises group company has launched GD-470, a dual SIM touchscreen mobile phone. The mobile phone costs Rs 3,300, but as of now it is available at an offer price of Rs 2,850.

The mobile phone has a 2.8 inch full touchscreen display (240x320 pixel resolution) and has dual SIM capabilities (GSM). It has a 1.3 mega pixel rear camera that can also record videos. The device's internal memory can be expanded up to 8GB and it can also be used as a modem for connecting with the internet. It has FM radio comes with a 1000 mAh battery that given up to 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours of stand-by time.

Additionally, GD-470 comes with "Beetel World", a GPRS based service that offers content like wallpapers, animations, videos, games and applications. It also has social networking features like Facebook, Yahoo and ibibo among others.

The dimensions of the device are 99mm x 56mm x 13.5mm and it weighs 93 grams.

Micromax X222

Micromax has also announced the launch of X222, a budget touchscreen phone (again with dual SIM capabilities) that will be available in India for a price of around Rs 2,000.

Unlike Beetel's GD-470, the X222 has a 2.4 inch resistive touchscreen display (240x320 pixel resolution) and it comes with a VGA camera for clicking pictures. It comes with dual SIM capabilities (GSM) and the internal memory of the device is expandable up to 8GB with a microSD card.

The mobile phone has an FM radio and comes with a 900 mAh battery that the company claims will provide 6 hours of talk time and 157 hours of stand-by time.

The dimensions of the device are 92mm x 52mm x 14mm and it weighs 83 grams.

Although the mobile phones are nothing to write home about, considering the price at which they are available, they are not a bad deal for people looking for affordable touchscreen phones. If you have to choose between the two, I would say opt for Beetel's GD-470.
