After dating site Ignighter shifted its focus to India, it is now the turn of WAYN.com (WAYN stands for Where are you now), a London-based social networking site. WAYN is considering setting up an office in the subcontinent.
WAYN.com is a travel and lifestyle social networking site which allows the users to share experiences about their travels and put up reviews, photos and videos. WAYN.com started in May 2002 and reached 40,000 users within the first 6 months. It was founded by Jerome Touze, Peter Ward and Mike Lines who were earlier working as management consultants at Accenture. Out of 17 million Wayn.com users in 193 countries, currently 20 per cent (3.4 million) are from India.
The office may be opened in the next six months and will be headquartered in Mumbai, according to an Economic Times report. "We have a significant amount of users in India and it only makes commercial sense to visit and explore partnerships there," said Jerome Touze, CEO of WAYN.com.
Wayn also has a research department called 'WAYN Insights' and recently launched a dating site called WAYN Dating.
